Testudinidae

2016

This project is entitled Testudinidae, which is the scientific name for Tortoise. These photographs were produced in 2016 and represent the relationship that I had with the landscape around me. At the time I was very uncertain as to my direction in life and these photographs explore various themes such as anxiousness and loneliness along with happiness and a feeling of comfort in my surroundings. In terms of the title I have used the Tortoise as a metaphor for myself; the shell represents the idea of strength but also the need to continually carry everything, good or bad, with me. These photographs aim to communicate the thoughts and feelings that I would otherwise struggle to voice.
